Our History

The Journey of EREF

The Eldama Ravine Education Foundation (EREF) was created to support bright but financially disadvantaged students from Eldama Ravine Constituency by providing them with quality secondary education opportunities.

Born from a shared passion for empowerment through education, EREF began as a grassroots initiative aimed at addressing the severe lack of resources in rural communities.

As EREF grew, it became clear that sustainable change required more than donations—it needed long-term solutions. This led to the establishment of Uzalendo School, a cornerstone of our mission. Uzalendo was founded not just as a school, but as a model of community-led education—where children from marginalized backgrounds could receive quality education in a nurturing environment.

To support our work, EREF developed a range of impactful programs and partnerships. Volunteerism became a driving force, with individuals offering their time and expertise to mentor, teach, and build. We launched the Child Sponsorship Program to give committed donors a chance to directly support a child's education journey—covering tuition, meals, uniforms, and learning materials.

Recognizing the power of books to inspire, we created the Bookshelf Program, allowing individuals and organizations to donate books and educational materials that directly enrich our classrooms and community libraries.

Today, EREF continues to grow, fueled by the commitment of our volunteers, donors, and community partners. What started as a dream has become a movement—empowering children, transforming communities, and turning vision into reality.
