The Eldama Ravine Education Foundation has successfully educated over 340 fully sponsored needy students at Uzalendo School. Our alumni have integrated into society as professionals and leaders across various sectors, demonstrating how patriotic support towards education defines Kenya's future. This essay competition complements our Uzalendo Half Marathon 2025 initiative to secure further support for bright but financially challenged students.

Understanding Patriotism

Patriotism is the special affection that one has for their own country. It represents a sense of personal identification that someone has with their country that makes them willing to sacrifice and promote the country's good.

Indicators of Patriotism

  • Loyalty to the Nation and its leadership
  • Readiness to defend the Republic of Kenya
  • Respect for the supremacy of the Constitution
  • Appreciation of national symbols (coat of arms, national flag)
  • Spirit of volunteerism

Eligibility & Target Audience

This essay competition primarily targets youth from Baringo County aged below 30 years. Youth in the same age bracket from neighboring counties are also eligible to submit their essays for assessment.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Relevance: Alignment with the topic
  • Originality: Novelty and innovation in addressing the topic
  • Clarity: Clear and coherent presentation of ideas
  • Evidence: Use of credible sources and examples to support arguments
  • Impact: Potential impact of proposed solutions or insights

Bonus Points Available For:

  • Creative storytelling around Kenyan heroes (known or unknown)
  • Integration of national history and local role models
  • Visionary thinking about future heroes and leadership
